Blog on my experiences through travel, reading, running and life

Our Newcastle Food Month experiences continued on Wednesday, 15th April 2026 at the Pukara Estate’s From Grove to Bottle: Exclusive tasting of their 2026 extra virgin olive oils and vinegars. The event was held at their Hunter Street retail space each Wednesday throughout Newcastle Food month, for $10 per person from 6pm-7pm.

On arrival we received a glass of guava vinegar with sparkling water and mint. This was definitely something I would never have considered having as a drink! It tasted quite nice though, but in saying that we both agreed that it was probably not something we would continue to have into the future.

We heard all about Pukara’s origins and the estate throughout the hour long experience, while trying olives, extra virgin olive oils and vinegar, while also enjoying some canapés that were made with either the olive oil or vinegar made by Pukara. At the end of the night, we also received a goodie bag with a bottle of vinegar and olive oil to use at home. The event also had us trying the new 2026 seasonal Leccino extra virgin olive oil that was straight from the farm that day!

We had visited Pukara’s estate in Muswellbrook several years ago when we spent a weekend in Muswellbrook, and really enjoyed that tasting then, so really enjoyed hearing more about them and trying the newer release products, along with ideas on how to integrate them into our daily cooking routine.

It was a really enjoyable night and the 2026 Newcastle Food Month has had some fabulous events that we’ve been able to attend and look forward to being able to attend more events throughout the 2027 Newcastle Food Month.
